Parthus Technologies Joins EEMBC for Embedded Java Benchmark Standards and Certifications

Dublin, Ireland - October 2, 2001 - Parthus Technologies plc
(Nasdaq: PRTH, LSE: PRH), a leading provider of platform level-IP, today
announced that it has joined the Embedded Microprocessor Benchmark
Consortium (EEMBC), that works collaboratively with its members to develop
performance benchmarks that target key applications of embedded
systems.

The emergence of Java technology has created a need for meaningful,
accurate evaluations for embedded Java and requires benchmarking
mechanisms that incorporate real-world customer applications based on
typical functions currently found on commercial devices such as
smartphones, PDAs, and Internet Appliances. The EEMBC embedded Java
Special Interest Group is developing the industry's first standard
mechanism for evaluating the performance of Java virtual machines (JVMs),
just-in-time compilers, Java accelerators and co-processors, other Java
execution technologies and the interaction of these technologies with a
host operating system in an embedded application.

The Parthus MachStream platform, launched in May, accelerates multiple
aspects of applications on mobile devices including Java technology-based
applications that require the use of a Java virtual machine and
compression of application and data files (JAR and ZIP) and is focused on
emerging applications based on the Java 2 Platform, Micro Edition TM
(J2METM) Mobile Information Device Profile (MIDP) platform such as
multimedia, security encryption, web browsing and interactive games.
