Parthus Joins Wireless Multimedia Forum to Promote Industry-Wide Interoperability for Media Content Across Wireless Devices

Dublin, Ireland - May 31, 2001 - Parthus Technologies plc
(Nasdaq: PRTH, LSE: PRH), a leading developer of platform-level
intellectual property, today announced that it has become an Executive
Member of the Wireless Multimedia Forum (WMF). Parthus actively
participates in a number of industry forums as part of its commitment to
deploy fully interoperable system-on-chip solutions that significantly
reduce the cost and time-to-market of in-house developed mobile Internet
applications, such as mobile multimedia.

The WMF is an international, multi-vendor forum for companies
developing products, services and information focused on the delivery of
rich media content to and from mobile, wireless devices. Other members of
the WMF include Cisco, Hitachi, Intel, NTT DoCoMo, Samsung, Texas
Instruments and Toshiba. As an Executive Member, Parthus is involved in
the Technical Working Group that supports the requirements of the
Application Requirements Group by promoting interoperability between
devices and chipsets for a range of media content.

Two of Parthus' platforms, MediaStream and InfoStream, deliver
multimedia applications to mobile devices. Parthus MediaStream is a
leading mobile multimedia platform targeted at high-fidelity digital
audio, video and graphics. As a leading supplier of multimedia technology
into a diverse range of applications, including in-car audio and
Microsoft's Xbox gaming consoles, Parthus' involvement in the WMF is
important to ensure that multimedia content is interoperable across all
devices. Parthus InfoStream is a complete mobile computing platform for
Smartphones and PDAs with multiple operation systems (pocket pc, Symbian,
Linux support)

"We are delighted to welcome Parthus as a member of the WMF," said
Martin Hall, chairman of the WMF and chief technology officer of
Stardust.com, the organization that oversees the WMF's activities. "As a
group, we believe that it is vitally important for the wireless industry
to avoid any fragmentation when it comes to content. Without such
interoperability, content providers would be faced with having to choose
between proprietary protocols and platforms." "Parthus whole-heartedly
supports any effort to ensure industry-wide compatibility," said Sean
Mitchell, vice president and general manager, InfoMedia business unit, at
Parthus. "We applaud the work of the WMF and are pleased to participate.
As a leading supplier of multimedia technology into a diverse range of
applications, including in-car audio, MP3 players, home entertainment and
Microsoft's Xbox gaming consoles, Parthus' involvement in the WMF is
important to ensure that multimedia content is interoperable across all
devices."

Where appropriate, the WMF will work with existing standards bodies,
including the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) and Third
Generation Partnership Project 2 (3GPP2), the MPEG-4 Industry Forum, the
WAP Forum's multimedia experts group, and the Internet Engineering Task
Force (IETF).

The WMF is targeting a variety of wireless applications under the
technical framework.

These include:

Streaming multimedia
Downloading
multimedia
Uploading
Multimedia
Multimedia
messaging
Wireless video
surveillance
Real-time
multimedia communication
Interactive
media games

Some of these applications are already covered by existing standards,
which will be incorporated in the WMF's reference library. If not, the
forum will reference standards that cover portions of the applications and
try to ensure interoperability between these standards.

About the WMF

The Wireless Multimedia Forum is an international, multi-vendor forum
and gathering point for vendors developing products, services, and
information focused on the delivery of rich media content to an exploding
number of mobile and wireless devices. The vision of the WMF is a world of
billions of mobile, wireless devices that can receive and transmit rich
media content to and from wireless and/or wired networks using a
standardized set of delivery, billing, copyright and management
technologies. The forum's Holy Grail is to enable content providers to
author rich media content just once that can then be received by all IP
devices. A truly international forum, member-only meetings will be held in
Hawaii, Israel, Europe and Korea over the course of the next year. The WMF
is managed by Stardust.com, a Penton Media, Inc. subsidiary. For more
