CEVA-TeakLite-III DSP Receives DTS-HD Master Audio Logo Certification

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Jan. 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- CEVA, Inc. (Nasdaq: CEVA); (LSE: CVA), the leading licensor of silicon intellectual property (SIP) platform solutions and DSP cores, announced today that its CEVA-TeakLite-III DSP core has been awarded DTS-HD Master Audio™ Logo certification. The certification, achieved using fully optimized SW implementations on an actual hardware platform of the CEVA-TeakLite-III DSP core, provides developers of high-end audio SoCs with a proven hardware and software solution that streamlines design cycle and substantially shortens time to market for DTS-HD compliant products.

The native 32-bit CEVA-TeakLite-III DSP core, recently named the best overall audio processor by The Linley Group in its 2010 report on CPU and DSP cores, is the foundation for the CEVA-HD-Audio solution. The single-core solution is the most compact and power-efficient HD audio offering available for integration into home entertainment and consumer ICs, with lower overall cost and reduced die size compared to other audio solutions, some requiring dual processors for advanced audio use-cases.

The DTS-HD Master Audio Logo certification makes fully optimized implementations of DTS-HD Master Audio, DTS-HD Hi Resolution, DTS-HD LBR™, DTS-ES™, DTS 96/24™, DTS Digital Surround™ and DTS Neo:6™ codecs immediately available on the CEVA-TeakLite-III DSP. The DSP's innovative 32-bit audio processing capabilities are instrumental in enabling the industry's most efficient implementation of the full DTS-HD codec suite, consuming less MHz than any other IP core for a Blu-ray Disc use case. For instance, the worst-case Blu-ray Disc use-case based on DTS-HD Master Audio would consume less than 340MHz on a single CEVA-TeakLite-III processor, representing less than 40% of available MHz at a 65nmG process node.

"We are pleased that CEVA has received DTS-HD Master Audio certification for their new line of audio processors. The CEVA-TeakLite-III DSP will allow users to fully experience DTS's high definition audio.  As a result, customers can efficiently incorporate best in class DTS-certified sound quality in their products using this new high performance and cost effective audio engine," said Brian Towne, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at DTS.

"The CEVA-HD-Audio solution has become popular among HD Audio SoC developers, as evidenced by its adoption by multiple tier-1 digital TVs, set-top boxes and Blu-ray Disc IC vendors.  With DTS-HD Master Audio certification, the CEVA-TeakLite-III-based platform delivers a no-compromises solution – industry-leading performance and 32-bit audio quality proven to reduce development time, design cost, and that meets stringent area and power needs," said Eran Briman, Vice President of Marketing at CEVA.

CEVA-HD-Audio is built on the CEVA-TeakLite-III DSP core, and includes a configurable cached memory subsystem, a comprehensive set of optimized HD audio codecs, and complete software development kit, including software development tools, prototype boards, test chips, system drivers and RTOS.
