CEVA and CoWare Announce Availability of Processor Support Packages for CEVA Cores Within CoWare ESL Design Environment
SAN JOSE, Calif., July 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- CEVA, Inc. (NASDAQ: CEVA)(LSE: CVA), the leading licensor of digital signal processor (DSP) cores, multimedia and storage platforms to the semiconductor industry, and CoWare® Inc., the leading supplier of platform-driven electronic system-level (ESL) design software and services, today announced the availability of Processor Support Packages (PSPs) that support the use of CEVA-TeakLite™ and CEVA-TeakLite-II™ DSP cores within the CoWare system-level design environment. The jointly developed models, based on the SystemC high-level design language, allow designers to quickly perform early architectural exploration and trade-off analysis before committing a CEVA-based design to silicon.

Using the CEVA PSPs and the CoWare Platform Architect environment for ESL design, designers can explore and verify alternatives for using different cores, busses and cache sizes, as well as simulate hardware and software operating together, all without having to commit to a hardware prototype. This early-stage exploration capability streamlines the overall design process and reduces time to market for complex system development.
The PSPs can be configured within the CoWare environment to create and analyze a variety of platforms based on the CEVA cores. Using the instruction-accurate model, CoWare's tool provides fast simulation of the system, including software running on the processors, to give designers faster and more comprehensive insight into design behavior and potential trade-offs to achieve design goals.
"ESL has emerged as a bona fide methodology to increase design efficiency and manage complexity," said Moshe Sheier, director of DSP product marketing at CEVA. "Providing comprehensive support at this early stage of the design process to designers wishing to utilize our cores, further enhances the potential of ESL-based approaches and provides designers with more options from an implementation standpoint. We are pleased to be working with CoWare, an acknowledged leader in the ESL space, to improve the effectiveness and utility of design systems with this collaborative offering."
"CEVA's DSP solutions have proven to be increasingly popular for a variety of complex system applications," said Tom De Schutter, IP marketing manager at CoWare. "Giving system designers the ability to work with CEVA's solutions at the system level and to verify true system behavior and performance is a tremendous advantage for our mutual customers. Our Platform Architect allows designers to evaluate and verify design alternatives quickly, reducing the design cycle and providing greater confidence in the success of the system in silicon. We look forward to working with CEVA on developing additional support for other IP solutions they offer."
