CEVA-MM2000

The CEVA-MM2000 is a Fully Programmable Platform that supports a wide variety of Video, Imaging, Audio, and Voice Processing Applications

 

ceva_MM2000Today’s mobile devices – from smartphones to tablet computers – are required to perform a tremendous variety of compute-intensive multimedia tasks while consuming as little power as possible. These tasks include capturing, processing, and displaying high-definition images and videos, capturing and playing high-definition audio, voice processing, and advanced capabilities such as face detection and gesture recognition. Embedded cameras in mobile devices require significant Image Signal Processing (ISP) in order to create quality images and video clips and to support embedded vision applications.

The CEVA-MM2000 comprises a fully-programmable high-performance hardware platform (no hardwired accelerators that are “frozen in silicon”), a complete set of optimized multimedia codecs, and a comprehensive development environment including C compiler, debugger, and development chips and boards. The CEVA-MM2000 integrates video, imaging, audio, and voice processing capabilities into a single solution that addresses the needs of smartphones, mobile computing devices, digital cameras and camcorders, and surveillance equipment.

Architectural Highlights

The CEVA-MM2000 is based on the CEVA-X DSP architecture and the CEVA-XS1200A application-specific DSP subsystem. CEVA-X DSP cores boast a high-performance VLIW/SIMD architecture, which supports video decoding/encoding up to 720p resolution at 30fps while still leaving enough headroom for advanced audio, voice, imaging, and vision processing functions.

 

The CEVA-XS1200A application-specific DSP subsystem includes the required system peripherals, interfaces and interconnections for a complete multimedia hardware platform:

  • A 16-channel DMA controller that supports 3D DMA transfers and accelerates video codecs and image processing applications

  • Four TDM (Time Division Multiplexing) interfaces that can support multiple audio/voice codecs simultaneously

  • An interface to optional L2 memory
